Internationally known artist Joseph Grigely probes the idiosyncrasies of everyday communication, and his works explore how sound is visually expressed and how language is embodied and used. In this artist's talk, he discusses historical issues related to the visual representation of conversation. Grigely teaches at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). A traveling exhibition of his recent works, St. Cecilia, is on view at the MCA through February 22, 2009.
