Creative Reuse: The Art of Recycling

About

Learn how everyday objects and items slated for trash can be reclaimed and turned into functional art. Artist Jason Middlebrook leads a workshop that explores how the recycling bin can serve as a rich source of inspiration for the classroom. Along the way, teachers examine how creative reuse can help students uncover a deeper sense of environmental responsibility and social awareness.

Artist Jason Middlebrook's work reflects on the relationship between humans and the natural environment. His drawings, paintings, sculpture, and multimedia installations tackle ecological issues of waste, recycling, and nature as provider. His work is featured in the upcoming exhibition, Alexander Calder and Contemporary Art: Form, Balance, Joy, which opens at the MCA on June 26, 2010.
